At an elevation of 5,425 m (17,794 ft), chang La Pass is one of the highest mountain passes in India and a route to Pangong Lake from Leh. It is the third highest motorable road in the world which connects Indua velley to Pangong Lake region. The pass, nevertheless is difficult for animals because of the quality of the road. The tribes of this icy region are known as ChangPa or Chang-Pa.
